New Animals

Under the title New Animals Uta Reinhardt presents oil paintings and mixed media art in small and medium formats from her intermediate creation period. Within this time frame also falls her relocation with her atelier from Munich to Reichersbeuern near lake Tegernsee.

The animals have a soul in the paintings of Reinhardt. They are co-inhabitants whose world has become evermore restricted by us through express roads, guard-railings, overuse of land or tourism. Fable creatures are among them, such as half human, half bird ? composite beings, onto which people project their dreams, fears and hopes.
The viewer is met with the familiar grazing deer as well as the forest spirit at dawn or the mountain goat, appearing out of the fog, out of nowhere.

Strong colours converge with smudged contours, with glazing techniques the painter merges dream and reality, while also using bright color spots and large spaces with strong contrast. One experiences nature as a landscape, the forest we regularly go for a walk in, can also appear foreign and alien to us. A foreign land, in which animals and trees lead a life of their own.
